District 2452 History
With the charter of the Rotary club of Cairo in 1929 our District came to being as “Eastern Mediterranean District”. As we grew and extended in the region we were subsequently renamed quite a few times.
1935 we became “District D”, 1936 to “District 83”, 1949 to “District 89” and in 1957 to “District 195” in 1977 to “District 245” and by 1991 “2450” before our final big transformation of 2013 to “2452“.
With 9 countries it is the second most extensive and diverse district Rotary International District around the world, stretching across three different continents “Africa, Asia and Europe” with six spoken languages: Arabic, Armenian, English, French, Georgian, Greek and Turkish multiple cultures and religions all sharing the same ideals through our Global Rotary family.
