Meet The District Governor

May Monla Chmaitilly

District Governor 2452
Rotary Year 2026-2027

I am May Monla Chmaitilly, and it is a tremendous honor to serve as District Governor for the 2026–2027 Rotary year. I embrace this responsibility with gratitude, humility, and a deep commitment to serving our extraordinary District, which brings together Rotarians from nine countries across three continents. Our diversity is our strength, and our shared dedication to Service Above Self unites us in creating meaningful and lasting impact.

My Rotary journey began over three decades ago as a Rotaractor. In 1996, I became a founding member of the Rotary Club of Tripoli-Maarad. Throughout the years I have had the privilege of serving as Club President, Assistant Governor, Deputy District Governor, and District Chair for Membership, Public Image, Rotaract and RYLA, District Chair of the Rotary Leadership Institute, and Assistant Rotary Public Image Coordinator for our Zone. Every experience has reinforced my belief that Rotary’s greatest strength lies in its people.

Professionally, I have dedicated my career to education as a university instructor. For three decades, I also managed a children’s summer camp, where I witnessed the importance of nurturing confidence, teamwork, and leadership in young people. My passion for sports has taught me discipline, resilience, and the value of teamwork—qualities that continue to shape my leadership philosophy.

Serving as one of the first women to lead District 2452 is both a personal milestone and a responsibility I cherish. I hope my journey encourages more women and young leaders to embrace leadership and discover the transformative power of service.

This Rotary year, our District theme, “Lead with Impact – Serve with Passion,” reflects my vision of leadership that inspires action, collaboration, and meaningful change. Inspired by Rotary International President Olayinka Hakeem Babalola’s message, “Create Lasting Impact,” our priorities are to strengthen our clubs, grow our membership, empower youth, support The Rotary Foundation, enhance our public image, and expand opportunities for impactful service.

As an educator, I believe the future belongs to those who successfully combine innovation with humanity. This philosophy is reflected in our District Conference theme, “Humanity 5.0 – Advancing Together,” celebrating the harmony between technological progress and human values.

On a personal note, I am grateful to share this journey with my husband, Mohamad Chmaitilly, and our two wonderful children, Issam and Hoda. Their love, encouragement, and unwavering support have been a constant source of strength throughout my Rotary journey. They remind me every day that leadership begins with family, is strengthened by friendship, and finds its greatest purpose in serving others.

My door and my heart are always open to every Rotarian, Rotaractor, Interactor, and friend of Rotary across our District. I look forward to meeting you, learning from you, celebrating your achievements, and serving alongside you. Together, let us Lead with Impact, Serve with Passion, and Create Lasting Impact.
