DG Peter Ashdjian is a prominent figure in Cypriot culture and a dedicated leader in Rotary, with a legacy spanning generation. He is the Director of the Pierides Museum – Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation, since 2001. His commitment to the Foundation extends further as he is also the Vice President since 2023 and CEO since 2024. He has been a Member of the Board of Directors for the Pierides Museum and Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation Trust since 2005, and a Member of the Board of Directors of the Pierides Foundation since 2008.
His leadership within the Foundation also included a tenure as Secretary-General of the Board of Directors from 2018 to 2022.
Throughout his career at the Pierides Museum, Peter has curated numerous exhibitions, including “Jewelry exhibition -Premolar Voyage-” (2002) , “Art exhibition -Minotaur’s portrait-” (2004), “Photographic exhibition -Cyprus of the 20th century-” (2015) , “Dialogue with ancient clay” by Nina Iacovou (2017), “Cholomorphosis” by Andreas Stylianou 2024 and “Reformation” by Michalis Pantelides. His expertise also extends to significant collaborations, such as being a scientific consultant for a museum audiovisual visit system project in 2007 and a committee member for the European program “Digital Invasion” from 2019 to 2020. He has also contributed to initiatives for the 3D representation of the port of Ancient Kition and a virtual tour of Larnaca Museums from 2019 to 2021.
Beyond his extensive work in cultural heritage, Peter is deeply involved in broader community service. He is a Member of the Committee for the Acquisition of Artwork for the Ministry of Education and the National Gallery of Cyprus and a Member of the Board and Secretary of the Larnaka Cultural Capital of Europe 2030 until 2031. He also serves as a member of the Cyprus Museums Committee.
Peter is a fourth-generation Rotarian. His great grandfather, Zenon Pierides was the founder of the Larnaca Club and Governor of the same district then known as District 89 in 1956-57, as well as a Director of Rotary International. His journey in Rotary began in 2002 with the Rotaract Club of Larnaca. He quickly took on leadership roles, serving as Rotaract District Secretary in 2004, Vice District Rotaract Representative in 2005, and President of the Larnaca Rotaract Club from 2006 to 2008. He transitioned to Rotary in 2009, joining the Rotary Club of Larnaca-Kition. He served as Club President in 2013-14 and again in 2024-25. His dedication led him to serve as Assistant Governor for Rotary District 2452 from 2015 to 2018, Vocational Service Chair for Rotary Cyprus in 2020-21, Deputy District Governor for Cyprus, in 2021-22 and District Public Image Chair in 2022 -23.
Peter earned his BA in Political Science and History from Panteion University of Athens in 2001. He is fluent in Greek -his mother language- and English.
He met his wife, Andri, in Rotaract. They have two daughters: Eugenia (16), who continues the family’s Rotary tradition as President of the Interact Club of Larnaca-Kition, and Eva (6) who wants to create a Rotary club for Cats. Peter loves long walks in nature, reading books and adores cats, especially there little Rosemary.
